Description
Wyoming black nephrite jade river cobble from the N. Platte River – The Sharkfin
0.295lbs – 3.5″ x 3.0″ x 0.5″
This Wyoming black river cobble has been naturally worn into the shape of a sharkfin. Fantastic character to this rare piece of Wing Nephrite jade.
Please note the first photos are without oil and the latter photos are with a lightly oiled finish.
This beautiful, naturally worn river cobble was originally collected by a family in Douglas, Wyoming with permission from the local ranchers to jade hunt along the riverbanks of the North Platte River in the Guernsey, Wyoming vicinity. I purchased this piece directly from that family about 8 years ago. The origin of this piece is likely either the black jade veins near Douglas or the Edwards black claim which was located above the confluence of the Sweetwater and N. Platte Rivers. These river cobbles are becoming quite rare.
